Two British tourists have been ordered to leave India after plastering pro-Palestine stickers over an ancient city popular with Jewish and Israeli visitors.
Lewis Gabriel Dee, 37, and his partner Anueshi Emma Christine, 35, slapped up stickers brandishing the words "Free Palestine, Boycott Israel” in the town of Pushkar in the northern state of Rajasthan.
Mr Dee and his Australian-born girlfriend, both of whom are British citizens, had entered the country on tourist visas.
The couple first came to the attention of local authorities on January 21 after numerous reports of the stickers being plastered in a number of public spaces.

The local police force's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) quickly launched a probe which concluded that the couple had broken the terms of their visas and violated local sensitivities.
Rajesh Meena from the Foreigners Registration Office in the northern Indian state said: "Engaging in activities that disrespect other nations while on Indian soil is a clear violation of visa rules."
He told The Telegraph: “We identified the foreign nationals who had pasted the stickers and got the stickers removed.
“During interrogation, they admitted that they engaged in political activities while on tourist visa," Mr Meena added.

The couple, both living in London, will leave India on February 24 and are currently staying in a hotel in Pushkar.
While they have not been arrested, the pair have been placed under surveillance and may face further punishment if they break the conditions of their tourist visas again.
Mr Meena said: "They apologised and were told that since they had come here on a tourist visa, they cannot indulge in political activities.
“If they again engage in political activities or misconduct, they will be expelled from India, and blacklisted and banned from entering India again.”

The couple are said to have ordered nine stickers from a local printing press before sticking them on a number of walls around the town.
They were quickly identified by police after CCTV footage from the sites was reviewed.
Pushkar has seen a sharp rise in tourists from Israel in recent years, with around 10,000 visiting the small town every year.
Many shops in the town can be seen using Hebrew in their signs and it is home to a Chabad House, which provides educational, religious, and social services to Jewish people across the globe.

|Israeli activist Hen Mazzig said: “Imagine hating Jews so much that, instead of actually visiting India, you spend your time printing and pasting anti-Israel posters on the walls of Pushkar, a city with a Chabad house and Israeli and Jewish travellers.
“Turns out not every country treats anti-Israel campaigning as a sightseeing activity.”
India has a small native Jewish community of around 5,000, with the majority concentrated in Mumbai.
The population declined from a peak of 30,000 in 1940s after large-scale emigration to Israel.
