A couple who had dreamed for years of travelling to the Maldives believed they had finally found the perfect opportunity when they spotted a Black Friday promotion from Tui in early December 2025.
The pair secured a booking at Tui Blue Olhuveli Romance, one of the travel company's own resorts, for a nine-night stay scheduled for June 2026.
Their excitement was palpable upon discovering they could afford an over-water bungalow complete with a private pool.

However, with prices having increased substantially since their initial booking, the additional £1,000 demanded by Tui was simply beyond their financial reach.
A Tui spokesman acknowledged the difficulties the couple had faced and expressed regret over what had occurred.
