A Jewish-owned shop has been set alight in an arson attack in Watford with police now hunting for a group of young men.
A fire door was set alight and graffiti left on a building on Lower High Street - which police have not named.
Officers arrived to the scene of the incident on Sunday shortly after 4.15pm.
The police force said it believed the attack was an isolated incident - not linked to arson attacks on the Jewish community in London.
Det Supt Mark Clawson said: "Firstly, I would like to make it clear that we do not tolerate hate crime in our communities in Hertfordshire. I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information.
The appeal has asked for those with mobile phone footage of the incident or offender(s) to review footage and submit it if there would be anything that could assist the investigation.
He added: "I would also like anyone in the area with a dashcam or doorbell camera to please check their footage and get in touch if you spot anything that might help.
"In particular, I am especially keen to trace a group of young males who were seen in the area around the time of the incident.

Although believed to be unconnected to the London arson attacks, it has become the latest in a series of arson antisemitic attacks since late March, including Jewish community ambulances targeted in Golders Green, two synagogues, and a former Jewish charity.
A spokesman for Campaign Against Antisemitism said: "This is the fourth report of an arson attack on a Jewish space in the past week alone... This is simply untenable.
"Arson attacks on the Jewish community appear to happen at a daily rate. Who, or what, will be burnt next?
"We are running out of time to find out, and swift action is urgently needed. We must start with banning Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, the senior national co-ordinator of Counter Terrorism Policing, said: "This is a significant development, being the first conviction in relation to one of the recent spate of arson attacks on Jewish, Israeli or Iranian-linked venues."
She previously said the Metropolitan Police were investigating the use of criminal proxies after many of the incident have been claimed online by the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right.
An investigation into a series of suspected arson attacks resulted in the arrest of eight people yesterday.
Seven of the eight were made in 48 hours as part of a probe into a suspected conspiracy commit arson, the police statement said.
While a specific venue was not identified, police said an intended target was connected to the Jewish community.
The police has arrested a total of 23 people since the first attack on a place linked to Jewish communities, or those who oppose the Iranian regime.
Those with information can contact Hertfordshire Constabulary quoting ISR 481 of April 19.
