The former President is vying for the Republican nomination

Donald Trump represents “one of the last chances to save America” from “weaponised” three-letter agencies, a political commentator has claimed.

The former President is vying for the Republican nomination as he seeks second term in the White House.

Speaking on GB News, US political commentator Ashley St Clair said the former president represents one of the country’s final opportunity to save itself from “weaponised” agencies.

She told Mark Dolan that the country needs to roll back on laws and regulations that are designed to “use and abuse” for political “dissidents”.

“Donald Trump is one of the last chances to save our country”, she said.

“Not only for that, but to undo a lot of this bureaucratic mess with all of the three letter agencies that have been weaponised against the American people here in the United States.”

Trump finds himself in the courts with various legal squabbles, and is also challenging rules made by Maine and Colorado.

The state’s supreme courts have both ruled he is ineligible for their Republican primary ballots.

Despite his troubles, Trump remains the overwhelming favourite for the party’s nomination.

He is expected to face-off once again with Joe Biden, the man who pipped him to the post in 2020.

St Clair believes that attacks on Trump are having the “inverse effect”, with the former president still gaining momentum in the race.

“He’s only rising in popularity”, she said.

“He has double digit leads in the polls right now. Every time they throw another indictment or charge at him, he’s only rising in the polls.

“They’re going to try everything they can. Right now, they’re weaponising the law.

“What the American people and folks in Europe need to understand is that the law can be weaponised against any of the political dissidents if the law gets too far.

“We need to deregulate and get rid of a lot of these laws and regulations that they’re able to use.”
