The US commentator is concerned that the issue will become rife across the UK

Candace Owens has issued a stark warning over gender ideology sweeping schools.

The Daily Wire commentator is concerned that the issue will become more rife across the UK after seeing it spread across the US.

The trend was evidenced by a landmark court ruling in August that a group of parents could not challenge a Maryland school district’s policy against telling parents if their children identify as gender or gender nonconforming.

Parents were also left curious in June after schools in New York were told to keep their children’s gender identities secret from their families under new guidance.

Owens told GB News that it is “unbelievable” the issue has become rife, even comparing it to “paedophilia”.

She told Patrick Christys: “This is a a very serious matter happening in America.

“The speed at which it has perpetuated that this is now a front issue is unbelievable.

“It can happen overnight in the UK. Let America be a lesson for the UK.

“You have to deal in reality and these conversations have to be happening now because children are being systematically harmed right now in the United States.

“By definition, it is entering into conversation the sexualization of children.”

JK RowlingJK Rowling has revealed her friends "begged" her not to speak out on transgender issuesPA

It was revealed last month that children will not be banned from changing their gender identity in schools in an apparent climbdown from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Sunak had been considering radical changes to equality law that would stop pupils from being allowed to adopt new pronouns in class.

A government spokesman said: “The Education Secretary is working closely with the equalities minister to provide guidance to schools and colleges.

“Given the complexity and sensitivity of the issue, we're taking the time to make sure any guidance we provide is as clear as possible.”

The issue has become rife in the political sphere in recent years with iconic author JK Rowling even wading in on the debate.

She said earlier this month that she would “happily” do prison time rather than refer to transgender women as “women”.

The American star told Christys that she “forgives” Rowling for previous remarks about right-wing Americans after she made her stance on the matter clear.

“The same people who championed, loved and glorified her wanted her cancelled immediately”, she said.

“They were willing to have her cancelled and essentially ruin her because she disagreed on one issue, they’re remarkably intolerant.

“The left is what they are, there is no room for having a difference of opinions.”
