Nigel Farage has taken aim at Gary Lineker in a fiery rant about the migrant crisis facing the UK.

The ex-Brexit Party leader spoke about the Match of the Day presenter’s stance on asylum seekers travelling to the UK via the Channel in a potentially deadly manner.

Speaking on GB News, Farage said Lineker believes the trend is “fine and dandy”.

He said: “I promise you, Gary Lineker, who thinks all of this is absolutely fine and dandy, represents about 16 per cent of the country according to a recent poll.

“There is a very clear majority not happy with the situation.

“Once this story about Scampton gets out and becomes bigger, I believe there is a genuine prospect this will be stopped.”

The BBC broadcaster was recently asked to take a ‘step back’ from his presenting duties on the channel after making derogatory comments regarding the Government’s migrant policy.

Lineker compared some of the language used by the Government to that of 1930s Germany.

In a widespread show of solidarity, BBC Sport commentators, pundits and presenters opted to abandon their duties over the weekend in question as they showed support for Lineker.

Farage is a vocal critic of the Government’s migrant policy, saying they have lacked decisive action on the matter.

In his latest criticism, the GB News presenter says the Home Office is planning to use the RAF Scampton base, famously the HQ of the iconic Dambusters squadron, to house migrants.

He said: “Scampton was a very, very important place. This has been for many years the home of the Red Arrows,” he said.

“As many of you know, we have been running down the size of our armed forces and this has meant that in 2022, Scampton stopped being an RAF base.

“There had been a very good, local plan to keep the runway open, to build hotels, to have a heritage centre remembering the incredible deeds of the men and women in the 1940s.

“And a plan to have a big tech park built around it. It would have been up to £300m in investment into an area that needs levelling up.

“To find out that the Home Office actually want this place to become a migrant detention centre, they’ve advertised for jobs already.

“I think this is dreadful for this local community and frankly an act of cultural desecration.

“I do not believe this should be allowed to happen. I’ve put my name to a petition, over 20,000 people have.

“This is also cross-party as the petition has been put forward by someone who intends to stand for the Labour Party.”
