Some of the services between the UK and France have been cancelled

The Foreign Office has issued a warning to Britons travelling to France due to cancellations of Eurostar services under the Channel.

Eurostar warned passengers could face "severe disruptions" after confirming two people had been struck by trains in separate incidents.

The Foreign Office said: "Eurostar services to and from France will be severely disrupted today (June 25) with some services cancelled.

"Check your operator's advice before travelling, including where you are taking connecting trains."

Eurostar confirmed the two separate fatalities had occurred between Lille and Paris.

Trains were significantly delayed or cancelled in both directions between London St Pancras International and Paris' Gare Du Nord yesterday evening.

At least three trains have been cancelled this morning, with passengers being left stranded in London and Paris.

Eurostar wrote on X: "Due to a person struck by a train near Lille Europe, we are expecting delays and cancellations to our services this evening.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"We advise changing your journey to a different travel date. Our apologies to customers affected."

The operator is experiencing further delays following "a cable theft near Lille Europe".

Eurostar said: "Our trains are likely to be subject to severe delays and last-minute cancellations.

"We advise you to cancel or postpone your trip. We're very sorry for the impact on your journeys today."

The delays follow a dozen Eurostar trains from London to Paris being delayed or cancelled a week ago, after a person was hit on the tracks in France.

Passengers have been expressing their frustration about the delays on social media.

One user said: "Hey [Eurostar], we have been on the ES 9032 from London to Paris for seven hours; still stopped and not sure when we will be able to make it to Paris. Will we be able to get full compensation for our journey?"

Another commenter noted: "Utterly appalling service from Eurostar abandoning passengers at midnight in Paris with nowhere to stay. Shocking."

One other passenger demanded a full refund from Eurostar, stating: "I'm going to need my full ticket refunded and compensation. I've been stuck on this train for five hours, and there will now be another three-hour delay."
