JetBlue has unveiled two significant technological enhancements to its baggage service, introducing real-time tracking through its mobile application and enabling customers to share Apple AirTag locations with airline staff.
The American carrier, which is based out of New York and flies out of London Heathrow and London Gatwick for the UK, shared the latest features aim to provide passengers with greater visibility of their checked luggage throughout their journey.
The developments represent part of JetBlue's broader strategy to enhance customer experience through digital innovation. These new capabilities allow travellers to monitor their bags' progress in real-time whilst also offering an additional recovery option should luggage be delayed or misplaced.
The airline's investment in these technologies reflects its commitment to maintaining its position as a leader in baggage handling amongst US carriers.

The mobile app enhancement builds upon JetBlue's existing email notification system, consolidating baggage information in one accessible location. Passengers can now receive immediate updates about their checked bags' status throughout the airline's network.
JetBlue's chief digital and technology officer Carol Clements said: "We are constantly looking for ways to offer our customers a more convenient travel experience. As part of our JetForward strategy, we're focused on delivering the products and perks our customers want.
"This new in-app bag tracking feature, along with AirTag location sharing for baggage recovery, are designed to bring customers peace of mind when checking their bags with JetBlue."
The Apple Find My integration enables passengers who have placed an AirTag or Find My network accessory in their luggage to generate a secure sharing link through their iPhone, iPad or Mac.
This temporary link can be provided to JetBlue's Baggage Service team either by scanning a QR code in the baggage claim area or through direct assistance at the airport's Baggage Service Office.
JetBlue staff can then use this location data to expedite the recovery of delayed or misplaced bags within their stations or contracted facilities. Passengers maintain complete control over their location-sharing preferences, with access automatically terminating once they are reunited with their belongings.
