Tesco Free From digestive biscuits are the product in question, and shoppers who have bought them should return the product to the store.

The affected packets have a best before date of March 2023, and come in a 160g pack size.

Packets with other best before dates or size are not included in the warning.

Returning the product to the store will result in a full refund, even without a receipt.

More information can be found by contacting Tesco's customer support team on 0800 505 555.

The supermarket has also issued an apology to customers for "any inconvenience caused" by the recall.

A product warning was also issued last month by Tesco over a batch of butter, feared to contain E.coli.

In addition, Kinder has been forced to recall several products due to salmonella risks after some 63 people fell ill in the UK.

The Food Standards Agency extended the range of products in the recall to include Kinder Mini Eggs and Kinder Egg Hunt Kits after an outbreak of salmonella was linked to the company's Surprise Egg product.

The majority of cases are said to involve children aged five and under.

More cases have reportedly been recorded in Europe, including Ireland, France, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands.

Chocolate firm Ferrero said it was suspending operations at its plant in Arlon, Belgium, over fears of salmonella infection.
