Suella Braverman was involved in a tense clash with a pro-Palestine student who accused the former Home Secretary of being a “war criminal”.

Braverman confronted pro-Palestine protesters at a camp in Cambridge earlier in the day with GB News host Patrick Christys.

Dismayed by what she had witnessed, Braverman was then challenged in the GB News studio about her comments by National Campaigns Coordinator for the Revolutionary Communist Party, Fiona Lali.

Opening up the argument, Lali insisted camps across the country are not being set up in response to October 7, the day Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, and it is “disingenuous” to suggest otherwise.

She also boasted that the pro-Palestine movement “brought down” Braverman, and has the power to “bring down the Tory Government”.

“The student protesters are very attached to what is happening in Palestine and they are doing what they can to stop universities, who provide £450m to the Israeli state and military rather than their own facilities”, she said.

“You are the one who is completely out of touch with what the majority of Britons think. The majority do not support what Israel is doing and they want us to stop sending weapons.”

Braverman responded by asking Lali what her “view of Hamas” is.

“The reason you want to talk about Hamas is because you want to keep justifying spending money for Israel”, she said.

“So this is not to do with Hamas, this about anti-Conservativism?”, Braverman asked.

“You have no view of Hamas or connection to Hamas. Do you believe Israel has a right to exist?”

Skirting over the probing, Lali responded to the former Home Secretary by asking questions of her own.

“What is your message to the majority of people in Britain? They hate the Tories and hate you specifically”, she said.

Later in the discussion, Lali insisted the International Court of Justice has declared the events in Palestine a genocide, a comment Braverman said is “wrong”.

“Let’s stick to the facts here”, she said.

The student responded by highlighting the “reality” of “40,000 people dead and millions displaced”.

Tents were pitched by protesters on a lawn outside Senate House on the Cambridge University campus on Wednesday, and bosses have been forced to move graduation ceremonies that were due to take place there on Friday and Saturday as a result.

But Lali is keen to “grow” the camp despite the disruption it has caused.

Explaining why Braverman was met with a cold shoulder by protesting students, Lali said it is due to her being a “war criminal”.

Braverman insisted the Israeli military are “targeting Hamas” and there is no intention to kill citizens in the conflict.

Earlier in the day, Braverman was met with boos as she arrived on the Cambridge University campus.

Protesters had their phones out looking to get a snap of the ex-Home Secretary, but were not willing to engage in a discussion.
