A Ryanair pilot had to step in during a flight last week after a couple got a bit too cosy with each other mid-air, an eyewitness has claimed.
The incident happened on the evening service from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Wednesday, January 7, which departed at 8.15pm.
A mother who was travelling on the flight told the Liverpool Echo that the captain was forced to make an announcement over the aircraft's speaker system.
It turns out a pair of passengers had been spotted getting rather affectionate with one another, prompting the pilot to address the situation directly.
The pilot's message to passengers was remarkably direct, beginning with a touch of humour before getting serious.
"Sorry to have to say this, we thought there was a problem and we couldn't land at Liverpool, but I have had reports that a couple on board tonight are engaging in overly amorous displays of affection," the captain announced.
He continued: "While it's very nice that you are so fond of each other, there are children on the flight and your behaviour is totally unacceptable.
"You know who you are, so kindly tone it down for the rest of the flight as I don't want to have to take this further."

The identity of the amorous couple remains unknown, as does exactly what behaviour prompted crew members to alert the pilot.

However, this is not the first time Ryanair has been forced to act over disruptive passengers.
A group of "drunk" Britons were removed from a Ryanair flight in May 2024 after being accused of sneaking in alcohol and "engaging in sexual activity".
The five passengers were travelling from Liverpool to Tenerife when they reportedly began behaving in an "inappropriate and disruptive" manner.
The three males and two female passengers were not originally travelling together but were sitting close to each other.
While aboard the FR4346 flight on May 16, members of the group were said to have opened their duty-free alcohol and drank from the bottle shortly after the plane took off at 4.05pm.
Ryanair crew members were forced to confront the male passengers, however their pleas were ignored.
The group then began to involve two women who were seated in the row behind them.

"The aircraft was met by local police upon arrival at Tenerife and these passengers were removed.
"This is now a matter for local police."
