A Royal Mail postman was grabbed by the neck and shoved into his van during a “shocking attack” in east London.
The man approached the postie from behind and grabbed him whilst he was standing next to the van’s ajar side door.
The postman, dressed in his signature red attire, tried to defend himself from the attacker, who was decked out in all black.
A shocked passer-by watched on and decided to record the incident, as the two men continued to grapple on Leytonstone High Street.
Before the physical altercation took place, the pair had a tense verbal exchange.
The man in black, whose vehicle had been driving ahead of his, can be heard saying: “I was sitting behind you.
“You give it all the f***ing big ones.”
Reacting to the footage online, one user said: “Why did no one step in to help the postie?”, with another user echoing: “Why is the guy filming and not helping?”
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
“I would have been straight out of my car to help the postie. As would most people I know. What is wrong with people today? I understand cities are dangerous and I live in a country town but still…,” a third commented.
Responding to the attack, a Royal Mail spokesman said: “This was a shocking attack and we condemn any form of physical or verbal abuse against our colleagues.
“The incident has been reported to the Metropolitan Police and we urge anyone with any information to contact them.”
Last year, a postman in Wales was slashed in an unprovoked attack on a residential street.
The postal worker was challenged by Darren Perrie, 29, who tried to instigate a fight before he produced a blade and cut his victim on October 23, 2023, in Port Talbot.

The postie said in a statement to Swansea Crown Court that he found the experience “very distressing”. He said when he saw Perrie with the knife, his first thought was that his children might lose their dad.
Perrie produced a blade from his pocket and struck the postman’s ear. He also suffered bruises to his face and knees.
A week later, he was spotted taking his knife out in a public park and was arrested in a park by armed police.
Pleading guilty, he was sentenced to 16 months in prison comprising 12 months for the October matters and two months for the second possession of a knife to run consecutively.
