The 31-year-old was forced to withdraw from the show on Monday due to medical grounds

Olivia Attwood's family have revealed the ex-Love Island star is "heartbroken" to be leaving the show after her short stint in the jungle.

The 31-year-old was forced to withdraw from the show on Monday due to medical grounds, a spokesperson said.

The show confirmed: "As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo medical checks.

"Unfortunately, the medical team has advised that it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be further investigation. She has been absolutely brilliant and she'll be very much missed on the show."

Matt Hancock's participation on the show has been met with widespread criticism.

Despite her departure, the reality star delivered a parting swipe towards incoming former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, who is due to enter the jungle today.

A statement posted to her Instagram concludes with: "Ps... who is going to roast Matt Hancock now??"

"To say Olivia is heartbroken would be an understatement," the post read. "She dreamed of doing 'I'm A Celeb' for years, and was absolutely loving every second of the show and throwing herself into jungle life feet first (just as we knew she would).

"However, for reasons beyond her control, her journey has been cut short. Your support and kind words have meant the absolute world to her, now as much as it always has.

"You will hear the truth from Olivia in due course and she will be back on your screens in the New Year."

Olivia was the second celeb to arrive on the show after DJ Chris Moyles, before she was informed that she had been voted as a Jungle VIP.

Ex-Minister Matt Hancock will now enter the jungle without meeting Olivia, despite widespread criticism.

Mr Hancock remains an MP despite his removal from Cabinet, and the show takes place while Parliament is sitting.

It is understood his entrance will be teased by co-hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly during Tuesday night’s ITV show.

Following his decision to join the reality series, Hancock had the Tory whip suspended and came under fire from across the political divide for opting to sign up at a time when Parliament is sitting.

Hancock has been given access to his phone and laptop during his isolation, allowing him to continue working and stay in touch with constituents.

Comedian Seann Walsh, who has been widely reported as the second surprise entry, is also expected to join the campsite shortly.
