Both neighbours either side eyed the vacant parking space at her property

A woman has criticised her neighbour for repeatedly attempting to claim her parking spaces and labelling her as difficult when she refused.

The dispute began shortly after she relocated to a property featuring a driveway capable of accommodating up to three vehicles.

Both adjacent neighbours quickly noticed when some spots remained unoccupied, she explained.

Initially, they expressed their displeasure through disapproving glances, before progressing to direct requests for access to the unused areas.

"From the start, both neighbours were asking if we were going to use all of the spaces. We have three at the back of the house, and they seemed very interested in them," she recalled.

Despite clearly declining, the persistent enquiries continued until she involved her landlord to intervene.

The situation deteriorated further when she returned from a shopping trip to discover a truck attempting to manoeuvre a trailer into the alleyway behind her property.

The vehicle entirely obstructed her driveway access, forcing her to wait while the driver attempted to position it within one of her designated spaces.

Upon questioning the workers, she received an unexpected response.

"It completely blocked access to our driveway, and we had to sit and wait while they tried to park - in one of our spaces," she said.

One worker informed her that "the lady" had granted them permission to park there.

"I told him straight away that it was our space and no one had permission to use it," she explained.

Following the truck's removal, she believed the matter had concluded, but the neighbour soon approached her in person.

Accompanied by her child, the woman requested use of the parking space, explaining that construction work at her own property had rendered her driveway unusable.

The homeowner declined once more.

"She came over with her child and asked if they could use the space," she said, "apparently, they were having work done and couldn't use their own driveway".

Her refusal prompted accusations of being "un-neighbourly," which proved to be the breaking point.

"I told her she couldn't just decide to use someone else's property and then act like the victim when told no," she responded.

The neighbour departed visibly frustrated.

The woman subsequently contacted her landlord again to confirm no misunderstanding existed regarding parking permissions.

Her account has attracted considerable attention online, with numerous commenters expressing support for her position.

One user wrote: "Some people feel entitled to anything that's convenient for them".

Another added: "You were right to stand your ground it's your property".

A third offered a humorous suggestion: "I'd start parking across all three spaces just to make the point clear".

The overwhelming consensus among respondents backed her decision to protect her allocated spaces from unauthorised use by neighbours.
