The open letter claims there is 'no evidence that people seeking refuge are more likely to commit acts of sexual violence'

A group of left-wing figures blasting women's safety concerns and illegal migration links as "far-right racist lies" have been lambasted by Alex Deane.

Speaking to GB News, the political consultant declared that facts "aren't racist", branding the move "bizarre".

The letter, coordinated by Stand Up to Racism and signed by left-wing figures including Zarah Sultana, Charlotte Church and Diane Abbott, claimed there is "no evidence that people seeking refuge are more likely to commit acts of sexual violence".

Titled 'Women Against the Far-Right', it stated: "We reject the far-right’s racist lies about 'protecting' women and girls. They are not defenders of women – they exploit violence against women to fuel hate and division."

Criticising the letter, Mr Deane told GB News: "The Ministry of Justice produced their statistics on sexual offences, which showed that the number of convictions by foreign migrants was up 62 per cent in the last four years.

"So one in every seven sexual offence convictions now in this country is by a foreign migrant.

"Facts aren't racist, they're just facts. And in the face of that, for whatever bizarre reason, some people you would think would have more reason to stand up for women in this country and be concerned for their safety than for saying things like this, want to, on the one hand, hurl abuse at those of us who think that we should do something about that and on the other hand, pretend it's not an issue or a problem."

He added: "To repeat my point, in the end, a fact isn't racist, it's just the truth."

Citing the ongoing grooming gangs crisis in Britain, Mr Deane claimed that the country is "importing the problem" of different cultures who view women as "second class".

He explained: "The grooming gangs we have in this country are overwhelmingly from one ethnic background.

"And if you're bringing more people, you've got a problem in a culture or a society where women are regarded as second class at best, and you're trying to import those people to this country, you are importing that problem."

Delivering her verdict on the letter, Baroness Dianne Hayter pointed out the one factor of it that she disagrees with.

Ms Hayter told GB News: "Violence against women is not new, but the one thing I disagree with the letter is calling the people who say this far-right.

Mr Deane told GB News that calling everyone who disagrees 'far-right' is the same as 'saying nobody is'

"I think it's very unhelpful to for anyone to start categorising people who raise an issue.

"But I do agree with the letter that this is not the right way to deal with the issue of violence, against particularly women and girls."

Agreeing with Baroness Hayter, Mr Deane concluded: "Violence, no matter who has committed it, is wrong, and if it's by native British people, it's just as wrong as if committed by a foreign migrant.

"And we also agree that it's unhelpful to go around saying that someone who disagrees with you is far-right, if in the end everyone's far-right, which is the same as saying nobody is.

"In the end, if you've cried wolf long enough and you've called every Tory you ever meet or every Reform person you ever meet some kind of bigot or some kind of far-right, then when the real far-right emerges, you'll have exhausted all language of warning."
