A separate video showed a brawl breaking out at the former military base

Asylum seekers who are being housed in RAF Wethersfield, Essex, have been filmed enjoying their stay with a huge dance party, fuelled with booze and blaring music.

The group of male asylum seekers can be seen singing, dancing and playing games of pool as Arabic music and a flashing disco ball light up the room in the taxpayer-funded accommodation.

RAF Wethersfield was originally taken over by the Government in 2023 and had its size limited to 800 asylum seekers in 2024.

Despite Sir Keir Starmer's promises to close the venue during his election campaign, the former military base is home to an estimated 1,200 small boat migrants, and has been earmarked by the Home Office for housing up to 1,700.

It is said to include an indoor gym and basketball court, but has been described as “like a prison” by one charity.

The video, which includes the caption "What really goes on at RAF Wethersfield every night", shows security guards watching the celebrations and even recording the jovial scenes themselves.

The camera pans the room to showcase multiple migrants, some grouped around two pool tables, some dancing in a group to the music and also shows a vacant table tennis table.

According to The Sun, the footage was recorded around 18 months ago, just before Labour were elected.

Another disturbing piece of footage that makes for more sinister viewing shows a brawl breaking out at the hotel.

The video shows one migrant jumping over a wall before confronting another foreign national while holding a food tray.

The pair were separated, but not before one was able to hurl the tray at his counterpart. He then followed that up by launching a chair in a clear act of aggression.

The former military base has come under scrutiny from local residents, with one individual saying: "It’s not safe for children to go for a walk round here…we are all worried about these men wandering around unsupervised and free to do what they want.

He added: "It’s become really dangerous. We are trapped here and our homes have been made worthless."

Speaking on the recently released video, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp told the Daily Express: "Illegal immigrants who claim asylum should not be getting housed in cushty surroundings.

"Under new leadership, the Conservative policy will come out of the ECHR so all illegal immigrants can be removed within a week of arrival.

"Then they won’t be getting accommodated anywhere."

Alp Mehmet, Chairman of Migration Watch, said: "Instead of floating future policies, which are unlikely to see the light of day, the Home Secretary could do something about the holiday camp environment asylum seekers enjoy while they await the outcome of their applications.

"The goings-on at Wethersfield not only shout ‘come on over’ but also shine a light on the soft touch we’ve become."

The concerning videos come just days after Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood unveiled her new plans to tackle illegal migration.

"In Britain, we play by the rules. When I said there would be penalties for countries that do not take back criminals and illegal immigrants, I meant it," Ms Mahmood said earlier this week.

"My message to foreign governments today is clear: accept the return of your citizens or lose the privilege of entering our country."
