The terror group descended on Israel on Saturday

Martin Daubney has called on the “left” and “Corbynistas” to acknowledge a role in the rise of Hamas.

It comes after the terror group descended on Israel on Saturday to carry out attacks of which the death toll continues to rise.

Their attacks prompted a heavy-handed response from Israel, with Benjamin Netanyahu declaring war and ordering the heavy bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

Speaking on GB News, Daubney hit out at the “silence” of particularly vocal figures on the left such as Gary Lineker, asking “where they are” as the conflict wages on.

“I have never understood the fetishisation of Palestine, but now the mask has slipped”, he said.

“It’s about hating the West, hating capitalism and slandering the West for everything it has done while forgiving the sins, the barbarity of what has happened.

“The left has been holding the doors to the citadel open while people come into our country who want to destroy our way of life.

“They need to hold their hands up. Hamas is a cancer and the left has willed it on.

“Now is a time to call it out. Where have people like Gary Lineker been this week?

“Corbynistas, they’re the ones who supported Hamas, they’re the ones who need to apologise.”

Jeremy Corbyn failed to condemn Hamas when asked by journalists about the matter at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, instead taking aim at all violence.

Labour have been under the spotlight in recent days as a result of their history with cases of anti-Semitism, which were particularly pronounced during Corbyn’s reign between 2015-2019.

Sir Keir Starmer has remained steadfast in his assertion that the party stands with Israel, arguing they have a “right” to defend themselves.

Palestinians have begun a mass exodus from northern Gaza after Israel’s military told them to evacuate ahead of an expected ground invasion.

With around a million people in the affected area, the United Nations has warned that so many people fleeing en masse would be calamitous.

But the Foreign Office urged Britons in Gaza to “follow Israel’s directive, if they are able to, but recognise this will be be challenging for some people”.

The war has claimed at least 2,800 lives on both sides since Hamas launched an incursion on October 7, with Israel placing the 25-mile Gaza Strip under siege and subjecting it to a torrent of retaliatory air strikes.

Hamas said Israel’s heavy bombardment killed 13 hostages, including foreigners, held by the group.

Three Britons are confirmed to have lost their lives during the weekend’s assault on Israel but reports have suggested at least 17 could be among the casualties.

The Prime Minister said: “We are working very closely with the Israeli authorities and in contact with families to provide all the possible support that we can.

“We are increasing our military teams across the region and making sure that we are doing everything we can to ensure the security of British citizens.”
