Joe Biden has been pictured seemingly forgetting that he shook a senator’s hand after going in for a second greeting in less than 10 seconds.
Mr Biden, who has recently recovered from Covid-19, attended an event at the White House to sign the CHIPS and Science Act, 2022.
Footage from the ceremony shows the US President shaking hands with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer before he also greeted others in attendance.
But as Mr Schumer turned back, Mr Biden was seen with his hand outstretched seemingly readying himself for another handshake.

When the handshake didn’t appear, the President stroked his chin in apparent confusion.
Speaking after the incident, Communications adviser for senator Ted Cruz said: “All it takes is like five seconds for Joe Biden to forget he shook Chuck Schumer’s hand.
“Scary.”
It comes just days after Mr Biden looked to forget that he was President during a speech on the cost-of-living crisis.
The 79-year-old said: "Now I know most families are focused on putting three meals on the table, taking care of their kids and paying their bills.
"Helping you do that is my job, it’s the president’s job as well."
As well as appearing to forget what his job was, the 46th president also seemed to unexpectedly pause between words as he said the phrase "putting three meals on the table."
