A man who hit his neighbour over the head with an attachment to a vacuum cleaner over a parking row has avoided jail.
David Cleator was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse after he was charged with causing actual bodily harm over the incident on December 2 last year.
Cleator was preparing to go to work when his neighbour approached him and a shouting match ensued on Snugborough Avenue in Union Mills.
The 41-year-old claimed his neighbour was going to attack him when he hit him over the head.
The attachment was in his work van.
Cleator then tackled the neighbour to the ground before punching him three times in the head.
He was handed 15 month sentence, however it was suspended for two years.
The court heard that Cleator, now living in Ramsey, put the man in the recovery position and placed the victim's phone on a nearby step.

Cleator then tried to leave the scene in his van, however, he was blocked by the victim's partner.
It prompted him to use his girlfriend's car to drive to work.
The man was arrested later in the Creg-ny-Baa area.
Cleator pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm, although he claimed it was in self-defence.

Judge Graeme Cook accepted Cleator's plea.
However, he added: "Had it ended there you would not be sitting here today."
Judge Cook said he proceeded to "rugby" tackle the man to the ground and "punched him two or three times in the head".
The victim said he was left with scars on his forehead and a split lip.
The neighbour also said he had also been scarred both physically and mentally.
He added that he feared leaving "his own home" and that the scars on his forehead meant that whenever he looked in the mirror it reminded him of the "horrific incident".
Cleator was ordered to pay £250 in costs and £1,000 compensation.
Meanwhile, a neighbour baffled locals after writing a note on a tree complaining about it blocking sunlight.
The homeowner expressed outrage that the large plant was blocking sunlight, causing him "inconvenience".
Shocked by the note, an anonymous local took to social media to share it with others.
Posting on Reddit, the man said: "I think my angry neighbour has finally lost it."
Part of the letter read: "Dear Tree. I am writing to you today to express my frustration and anger over the fact that you are blocking the sunlight from reaching my property".
