Judges highlighted GB News’ momentum, audience engagement, commercial progress and market-challenging presence

GB News has been awarded Start-Up of the Year at the prestigious Campaign Media Company of the Year Awards 2026, recognising its rapid growth and its transformational impact on the UK media landscape.

The award marks a major milestone for GB News, which has established itself as Britain’s fastest-growing media company in just five years.

The Campaign Media Company of the Year Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and performance across the industry, with this year’s competition among the strongest on record.

The judging panel described GB News as a “compelling start-up and scale-up story.”

Judges highlighted GB News’ momentum, audience engagement, commercial progress and market-challenging presence.

And they also noted our ability to establish a clear position and credible growth trajectory across multiple platforms in a short space of time.

In their official comments, the judges described GB News as “a really good example of a business that has seen a gap in the market, executed with conviction and established a position and a future in a short space of time”.

Angelos Frangopoulos, CEO of GB News, said: “Winning Start-Up of the Year is a proud moment for everyone at GB News.

“Five years since launch, our philosophy remains the same: we don’t follow the news cycle, we challenge it.

“By putting the people of Britain at the heart of everything we do, we’ve built a distinctive media brand which reflects and engages communities right across the United Kingdom.”

Over the past year, GB News has delivered strong growth across television, radio and digital.

In 2025, it became the UK’s most-watched commercial news channel, ending Sky News’ three-decade lead.

Its radio audience has grown to 684,000 weekly listeners, while more than 10 million people follow GB News across social platforms.

The company’s digital output has also surpassed one billion pageviews.

This growth has been supported by continued innovation, including the in-housing of programmatic advertising, expansion into connected TV and FAST platforms, and the development of community-led initiatives such as Friends of GB News.

GB News was also named a finalist in the News Brand of the Year category alongside DMG Media, The Guardian, Reach plc and The Telegraph.

DMG were named winners in that category.
