Buckingham Palace balcony: Who appeared alongside the Queen for the Flypast?

Only working members of the Royal Family were permitted on the Palace balcony for the flypast

The Royal Family appeared on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to welcome the RAF flyover for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The 96-year-old monarch was accompanied by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


The Queen wore an outfit by the designer Angela Kelly which comprises of a dove blue Charmelaine wool dress, embellished with pearl and diamante trim around the neckline which cascades down the front of the coat.

Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared on the balcony accompanied by Kate and William's children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Royals were seen applauding the flypast, with particular excitement displayed towards the spectacular patriotic display by the Red Arrows.

The youngest member of the Royal Family present on the balcony, three-year-old Prince Louis was seen waving eagerly to the crowds.

The Queen could be seen interacting with her great-grandson Prince Louis, who was standing next to her on the balcony.

The young prince could be seen holding his hands over his ears as the aircraft soared overhead.

The Queen smiled throughout the flypast and waved at the crowds before departing the balcony to head back into the palace, followed by her son the Prince of Wales.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, were barred from appearing on the balcony, as spaces were reserved for working Royals only.

Meghan was spotted putting a finger to her lip alongside Mia Tindall and Savannah Phillips, while partaking in celebrations from a balcony at Horse Guards Parade.

The Palace balcony welcomed working members of the Royal Family such as The Duke of Gloucester, Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra, Duke of Kent, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and the Princess Royal the Countess of Wessex, James Viscount Severn, Lady Louise Windor, and the Earl of Wessex.

The Royal family will gather at Buckingham Palace later this evening to watch the lighting of principle beacon.

The beacon is set to be lit at 9.45pm.
