Millions of shoppers are being urged to check their accounts before vouchers become invalid

Tesco has issued an urgent warning to millions of Clubcard members after revealing that £17million worth of vouchers are due to expire at 11.59pm on May 31.

The supermarket is urging shoppers to check their accounts now, with vouchers issued in May 2024 approaching the end of their two‑year validity period.

With around 24 million Clubcard users across the UK, Tesco said many customers may still have unused vouchers sitting in their accounts without realising.

The retailer is encouraging members to review their balances to avoid losing money earned through previous spending.

Shama Wilson, Tesco’s group membership and loyalty director, said: “This is a big quarter for Clubcard voucher expiry, with more than £17million of vouchers due to expire at the end of May.”

Ms Wilson added that vouchers can be used for discounts with restaurant partners, savings on days out across the UK, railcards or hotel bookings.

“I’d encourage everyone to check their Clubcard account to see if they have any vouchers to use up,” she said.

Clubcard members earn one point per £1 spent in stores or online, and one point per £2 spent at Tesco petrol stations.

Additional points can be collected through Tesco Bank credit cards and selected partner brands.

Every 150 points are automatically converted into a £1.50 voucher, with new vouchers issued in February, May, August and November. Each voucher is valid for two years.

Vouchers can be spent directly in Tesco or exchanged with reward partners, often doubling or tripling their value, including Pizza Express, Vue Cinemas, Alton Towers and Legoland.

Tesco also highlighted a way for customers to extend the life of unused vouchers.

Making a small online purchase using a Clubcard voucher triggers the remaining balance to be credited back to the account with a new two‑year expiry date.

This allows shoppers to preserve the value without spending the full amount before the deadline.

Tesco is urging anyone unsure whether they have vouchers due to expire to log into their Clubcard account and check their balance before May 31.
