Prepaid card and Round Up accounts will close on April 26 as customers told to transfer funds

Tesco Bank customers using Clubcard Pay+ prepaid cards have been urged to withdraw their money before the service shuts down on April 26.

The banking arm of the supermarket is closing both the prepaid card and its linked Round Up savings accounts, leaving customers just days to transfer their funds.

Customers can move their money using the Clubcard Pay+ mobile app by transferring balances to any UK bank account in their name.

Those with funds in a Round Up savings account must first transfer the balance into their main Pay+ account before moving it elsewhere.

Tesco Bank said any money left in accounts after the closure date will be returned, although customers may experience delays compared with withdrawing funds themselves.

The Clubcard Pay+ card launched in 2022 and allowed users to earn loyalty points on spending both at Tesco and other retailers.

It operated as a prepaid card, enabling customers to load funds and collect Clubcard points on purchases.

The service also included a round-up feature, which automatically moved spare change from transactions into a linked savings account.

Tesco Bank said it decided to close the product following a review of its usage.

A spokesperson said: "After a careful review, and due to limited usage of the product, we made the decision to close Clubcard Pay+ accounts for existing customers."

The card had already been withdrawn for new customers in 2025.

MoneySavingExpert analyst Gavin Shepherd advised customers to act promptly to avoid delays.

He said: "As soon as possible" customers should withdraw their funds rather than waiting until the final days before closure.

Mr Shepherd also recommended checking that contact details are up to date within the app to ensure any final statements and returned funds are received without issue.

Customers have been advised to update payment details for any subscriptions linked to the card.

Tesco Bank warned that those using Pay+ for services such as Netflix or Amazon should switch their payment method before April 26.

The bank confirmed that any remaining balances or interest owed after closure will still be returned to customers.

Interest payments due annually were issued on March 31.

Tesco Bank first informed customers of the closure in November 2025, with further reminders sent in recent weeks.

Customers wishing to continue collecting Clubcard points will need to use a separate Clubcard, which can be accessed digitally through the Tesco app or requested as a physical card.
