Members of Nationwide Building Society have benefited from the financial institution's Fairer Share Payment

Nationwide Building Society has completed its £100 Fairer Share Payment to more than four million eligible members, with 99.97 per cent of payments processed in just one day.

The payout, totalling over £400million, represents one of the UK's largest member distributions.

Britain's largest building society has given itself until July 4 to complete all transfers into members' current accounts.

The remaining 0.03 per cent of payments are expected to be finalised by early July.

This marks the third consecutive year of the Fairer Share Payment scheme, which was announced during Nationwide's financial results at the end of May.

The Fairer Share Payment is available to eligible members who use Nationwide for their everyday banking whilst also holding a qualifying savings or mortgage product.

The society has distributed these payments annually since 2023, with the scheme dependent on Nationwide's financial strength and subject to board approval.

2025's distribution follows Nationwide's earlier £615million Big Nationwide Thank You payment, which provided £50 to over 12 million eligible members.

Combined, Nationwide has paid eligible members more than £1billion in direct payments in 2025.

Stephen Noakes, Nationwide's Retail Director, said: "We have already made excellent progress in rolling out this year's Fairer Share payment, having surpassed four million payments in the first day.

"We are delighted to have been able to pay eligible members £100 for the third year running due to Nationwide being in a strong financial position.
