The Labour Government has suggested Brexit is impacting the ability of ministers to grow the UK economy

Brexit is under fire with Chancellor Rachel Reeves suggesting Britain's decision to leave the European Union (EU) has resulted in long-term harm to the UK economy.

According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), gross domestic product (GDP) jumped by 0.1 per cent in August and fell by 0.1 per cent in July, in a revision to the previous estimate for no growth.

In the three months to August, GDP grew by 0.3 per cent compared with 0.2 per cent growth in the three months to July.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecast Britain will have the second-largest growth rate out of the G7 countries, however this economists note the GDP rate will be far below highs seen before Brexit.
