Weight loss does not always require a complete lifestyle overhaul. Sometimes, it is the smaller habits that make a real difference.
Motivation is a key component of every journey and the internet is brimming with advice on how to keep going when willpower starts to flounder.
Tarah Blake Saylor recently shared some of the unorthodox methods that saw her shed an impressive 4st 4lb.
One thing she did to avoid falling off the bandwagon was trade unhealthy foods for healthier options, as cutting them out entirely would create “friction” in her diet.

“All my family and friends saw me go from 13st 4lb to 9st 2lb over the last five or six months, and every time they ask me how I did it, I give them genuinely valuable tips,” she told her viewers.
“The first thing I tell them is to remove friction in your diet and your exercise, so don’t stop eating chips, just eat healthy chips.
“Don’t stop eating ice cream, just eat healthy ice cream. I have a food substitute for almost every food vice out there.”
This approach extended to her fitness regimen, which she adapted to her existing routine rather than the other way around.

“I also tell them to remove friction in their exercise routine,” she said. “You don’t have to wake up at five AM if that’s not your speed; you can do it after work, you can do it on your lunch break, you can do it in the afternoon.”
“Choose an exercise that does not feel like exercise. I scroll on my phone on the treadmill for an entire hour every single day.
The third component in Tarah's weight loss journey was a vision board, which she credits for helping her stay focused.
This engages the subconscious and helps it overcome any challenges that might arise, such as cravings.

“I made a vision board, and I looked at my vision board every single day,” she explained. “Every single time I wanted to eat a burger, I would check that vision board.
“Not only that, I would imagine my head on those bodies. I journaled the entire time I was losing weight, with my future self being the audience. So I journaled back then, talking to me now.”
She concluded her clip by reiterating the importance of having a purpose in your weight loss journey, noting: “Find your mantra. For me, I had convinced myself mentally that every choice I made was a choice for either my current self, that I am or my past self."
