Tesco has issued an urgent recall for three of its pate products after discovering they were labelled with incorrect use-by dates, creating a potential microbiological hazard for shoppers.
The supermarket giant is warning customers not to eat the affected items, which are "unsafe to eat" and could make people seriously unwell.
The products affected have been labelled with the incorrect ‘use-by’ date of January 5, 2025, on their packaging.
The recall covers Coarse Farmhouse Pate, Coarse Ardennes Pate, and Smooth Chicken Liver Pate, all sold in 170g packs.

Anyone who still has these products, share the same pack size of 170g and carry the January 5 use-by date, should avoid consuming them immediately.
The products mentioned above are the only Tesco items caught up in this recall, the supermarket confirmed.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) explained that because the date printed on the packaging was incorrect, these pates may have gone off sooner than customers would have expected.
This means the products could pose a microbiological risk, as harmful bacteria may be present.
Tesco has put up notices in stores selling these items to alert shoppers about the problem, making it clear that customers can bring back the affected pates to any of its stores for a complete refund.

The retailer stated: "No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused."
The FSA website contains crucial information about the importance of use-by dates and food safety.
It warns you should never consume food past its use-by date, even when it appears and smells perfectly fine, as it could still make you very ill.
Harmful bacteria cannot be detected by smell alone.
The Food Standards Agency regularly issues Product Recall Information Notices to keep consumers and local authorities informed about food safety concerns.
This latest pate recall follows another Tesco product withdrawal just weeks ago, when the supermarket pulled its Free From 4 Christmas Chocolate Flavoured Cupcakes from shelves.

That recall came after it emerged the festive treats might contain milk not listed on the packaging, posing a risk to anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance.
