The A-listers appear to enjoy a slower pace of life in one of France's most inspiring regions

Since shooting to fame, George and Amal Clooney have built a sprawling property empire across Europe’s most sought-after areas.

The pair recently expanded their portfolio in Cote D’Azur, one of France’s most affluent and sun-drenched provinces.

Though they enjoy the slower pace of life that the region has to offer, they do not live there year-round.

Just yesterday, the A-listers were photographed in the vicinity of their idyllic 18th-century château.

They are the proud owners of Domaine du Canadel, situated at the heart of a village that comes alive with market stalls and bustling restaurants at the weekend.

Traders from nearby towns gather in the town centre on Saturdays to sell locally sourced ingredients and antiques.

Medieval fountains and the sound of crickets provide a charming backdrop for the village, which welcomes visitors from across the country every year.

Winding roads lead to neighbouring vineyards, olive groves, stone villages and lavender fields.

Nearby is the Château Miraval, in the north of Brignoles, where Clooney’s co-star Brad Pitt famously spent holidays with ex-wife Angelina Jolie throughout their marriage.

The American filmmaker George Lucas is the proud proprietor of the Château Margüi, located a stone’s throw from the Clooneys’ abode.

The territory has also inspired the likes of Picasso and Cezanne, who produced some of their finest work there.

But despite being a hit among A-listers, the historical province is far off the beaten track.

George and Amal's breathtaking château is just 20 miles from the Brignoles.

The Clooneys' 425-acre estate - understood to be one of the biggest in the area - comprises a vineyard, tennis court and orchards.

Their hideaway was secured for $8.3 million (£6.5 million) in August 2021.

Although the Oceans Eleven actor and his human rights lawyer wife enjoy roaming the streets with their St Bernard puppy Nelson, they take great care to maintain their privacy.

George Clooney is also the owner of a property in a quiet part of England, Sonning in Berkshire.
