Looking to the garden is also a great way to bump how much buyers are willing to pay.
In fact, research suggests Britons will pay up to 20 per cent more for a property with a good garden.
The average property price was £288,000 in June 2023, according to the Office of National Statistics, meaning a 20 per cent boost could be around £57,600.
A well kept lawn can be appealing to potential buyers

Lawn care expert from Rolawn Jonathan Hill said: "A well-kept lawn can significantly enhance the appearance of your house and garden and improve the overall saleability and value of your home."
The expert shared his top tips on how to improve the garden and add appeal by focusing on a healthy lawn.
Jonathan continued: "Overgrown grass can look unkept and unloved and put potential buyers off.
"Keep your lawn neat and make sure to edge it to keep lines tidy."
He added it is important to keep the lawn tidy and free from weeds and clutter.
"Weeds are less likely to thrive in good quality, healthy turf so leaving them to grow gives the impression of a poor quality lawn," he added.
"Most weeds can be easily dug out.
"Give your lawn a light rake to remove leaves, twigs, thatch and any other debris that has gathered.
"Leaving objects such as furniture, blankets, BBQs and garden equipment can cause yellow patches which, although often temporary, can look unsightly."
