Blue Diamond Garden Centres has issued an urgent product recall for four festive gingerbread decoration models, with safety regulators warning of choking risks to young children.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has identified dangerous defects in the seasonal ornaments, which are being withdrawn from sale.
With Christmas approaching, the timing of this safety alert is particularly critical for families who may have already purchased the decorative items.
The recall affects multiple gingerbread figure designs sold across Blue Diamond's retail locations, prompting immediate action from the garden centre to protect consumers from potential harm.

Testing revealed that components from these decorative figures can break away or become detached through normal handling, producing pieces small enough to fit completely inside a small parts cylinder used for safety assessment.
The OPSS stated: "These small parts pose a choking hazard to young children, particularly those under 36 months who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths."
Also concerning for shoppers, the products feature seam gaps that could provide access to fibrous filling materials.

Such defects make these ornaments particularly hazardous for households with toddlers during the festive season.
The affected products include the Standing Gingerbread with Telescopic Legs, Sitting Gingerbread with Short Legs, Gingerbread On Stick, and Sitting Gingerbread with Dangle Legs models. Each carries specific product codes ranging from BD220739AB to BD240451AB1.
These decorative articles, manufactured in China, fail to comply with the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

River Island recently recalled an accessory that poses a 'serious risk' to the kidneys and brain

Officials emphasised that "consumers should stop using the products immediately and return them to the nearest store for a full refund or exchange".
With the festive season upon us, parents and carers must check their Christmas decorations urgently to ensure these hazardous gingerbread figures are removed from homes where little ones might be present.
It comes just days after River Island shoppers were warned that a popular accessory poses a "serious risk" to the kidneys and brain due to a toxic metal threat.
The affected handbag was sold in stores and online between June 18 and November 3, 2025 and has been recalled due to an excess concentration of lead on its metal chain.
Shoppers have been urged to follow the typical recall process: stop using the item immediately and arrange for its return.
Product recalls and withdrawals must always be taken seriously to ensure your safety.
