Parents and carers are being urged to examine their children's toys following an expanded safety alert from Asda regarding its Hapello Sensory Roller.
The supermarket has widened its product recall, first initiated in March 2025, to encompass multiple production batches after discovering manufacturing defects that create safety hazards.
Asda has confirmed small plastic components can become loose when children play with the roller, posing a choking risk.
Households with young children should immediately check whether they possess any of the affected items, which were sold across Asda stores for more than two years until this month.
The retailer has now extended its safety warning to include five production batches of the popular children's toy, significantly broadening the scope beyond the original alert issued earlier this year.
The expanded recall affects batch codes 34, 35, 36, 37, and 39, all bearing the same barcode: 5063089161708. These items remained on sale from June 2023 through to this month.
Asda initially recalled just batch 36 after discovering the fault in the manufacturing processes.
At the time, the company warned that small pieces of plastic could break free during play, presenting a danger to little ones.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Anyone who has purchased affected batches of Hapello Sensory Roller should cease use 'immediately'

As emphasised in both recall notices, customers who own any of the affected rollers should "stop using them immediately".
Instead, they should return them to their nearest Asda branch for a complete refund, with or without a receipt.
For further information on the recall, shoppers can reach Asda Customer Relations at 0800 952 0101.
The sensory toy typically retails at £7. Its official description reads: "The Hapello Sensory Roller is the perfect addition for your little one's playtime!

"Let them discover how to get the shapes in and out of the soft fabric sides.
"The six shapes included all have different patterns, textures, and colours with rattle sounds for added sensory experience."
The toy recall follows another recent product safety issue at Asda involving George Ladies Double Buckle Flatbed Sandals.
The supermarket withdrew lilac and sage-coloured versions of the shoe after tests revealed metal trims containing nickel levels that surpassed legal limits.
Sparking safety concerns, officials confirmed that the excessive chemical content could cause "adverse skin reactions" in wearers.
In light of this, customers have been encouraged to follow the typical recall process: cease use and return the shoes to Asda for a full refund.
For a full list of barcodes impacted by the recall, shoppers can visit Asda's official product recall web page.
Food and product safety alerts should always be taken seriously to ensure customer safety.
