'Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store'

Lidl GB has pulled its Snaktastic Multigrain Bites Sour Cream & Black Pepper from shelves after discovering the snacks may contain pieces of foil.

The discount supermarket is warning shoppers that the contamination creates a choking risk, making the product unsafe to consume.

The affected batch carries the code 207 345 and has a best-before date of April 4.

The 150g multipacks, which contain six individual 25g bags, are the ones being recalled.

Lidl is urging anyone who has purchased the snacks to avoid eating them altogether.

"If you have bought the above product, we advise you not to eat it. Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given," the retailer said.

The supermarket chain has put up notices at all stores stocking the product to alert customers about the recall.

These in-store displays explain exactly why the multigrain bites are being withdrawn and guide shoppers on what steps to take if they've already bought a pack.

Meanwhile, Tesco has also launched an urgent recall affecting its Special Fried Rice after finding the product contains wheat that isn't listed on the label.

The 350g packs with a use-by date of February 2 are the ones affected by this recall.

This poses a serious concern for anyone living with a wheat allergy, gluten intolerance, or coeliac disease, as the hidden ingredient could trigger a genuine health reaction.

The Food Standards Agency has put out an Allergy Alert regarding the rice product, referenced as FSA-AA-08-2026.

Tesco has contacted allergy support groups to help spread awareness among their members and has displayed notices in stores.

For people with coeliac disease, even tiny traces of hidden gluten can cause significant damage to their bodies.

The condition affects how the digestive system absorbs nutrients, which can lead to iron deficiency anaemia, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia, and weakened bones through osteoporosis.

When cases become more severe, the body may struggle to get enough essential nutrients, potentially resulting in malnutrition.

Those experiencing serious malnutrition often feel tired, lightheaded, and mentally foggy.

The risks are particularly concerning for children, where hidden gluten exposure could potentially lead to stunted growth and delays in their development.
