Britons are advised to check their kitchens thoroughly and return any affected items to stores

Three major retailers have pulled food products from shelves following the discovery of undeclared allergens that could endanger customers.

The recalls affect chocolate from Aldi and Home Bargains, alongside a plant-based protein product from Waitrose.

Shoppers with allergies to peanuts, milk, soya, wheat, or gluten face potential health risks from the affected items.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued formal notices for each recall, urging allergy sufferers: "Do not eat it."

Consumers should check their cupboards and return any purchased products immediately for a full refund.

Aldi

Aldi has recalled all batches of Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um's after discovering the chocolate treat might contain peanuts not listed on the packaging. The recall affects products bearing the barcode 4061463833464.

Customers with peanut allergies must avoid consuming the confectionery and bring it back to any Aldi store for reimbursement.

The retailer has apologised for the disruption while emphasising that all products go through "rigorous safety and quality checks".

Those who require additional information can contact Aldi's customer service team at 0800 042 0800 or submit queries through the website.

Waitrose

Waitrose has recalled THIS Isn't Chicken Deli Pieces after discovering the meat-alternative product contains wheat (gluten) and soya, not mentioned on labels.

The recall includes all items with use-by dates extending to November 13, specifically affecting batch codes 274 and 272.

Shoppers with coeliac disease or allergies/intolerances to wheat, gluten, or soya must not eat these products.

Waitrose has advised customers to package up any unsafe items and return them for a full refund.

Those who require further details can reach Waitrose Customer Care at 0800 188 884, option 4.

This comes just days after Waitrose shoppers were issued an urgent warning after a kitchen utensil was discovered to contain unlawful levels of a cancer-causing substance.

Home Bargains

Home Bargains has recalled three Milka chocolate bars after discovering allergen information was not displayed in English on the packaging.

The affected products include Milka Hazelnut, Milka Whole Nut, and Milka Oreo Brownie varieties, all containing milk, hazelnuts, soya, and wheat.

The absence of English-language allergen labelling poses serious risks for customers with intolerances to these ingredients or those suffering from coeliac disease.

TJ Morris, which operates Home Bargains stores, has advised purchasers to avoid consumption and return products to their original point of sale.

Concerned customers can email support@homebargains.co.uk or visit stores directly for a full refund.

Shoppers are not required to provide a receipt to any of the retailers during the returns process.

These food safety alerts come just days after a Halloween treat that could cause a "medical emergency" was pulled from shelves.

Due to an undeclared allergen, Rose Manufacturing recalled its Halloween Spooky Tea Cakes from stores across Northern Ireland, urging affected customers not to eat them.

Shoppers were asked to follow the typical recall procedure, returning it to their place of purchase for a full refund.

About allergy alerts

The FSA explained: "Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold.

"Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

"Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect, or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert."
