Lidl GB has issued a recall for its Red Hen Gastro 2 Southern Fried Chicken Thigh Burgers following a labelling error that could endanger shoppers with celery allergies.
The 330g product fails to highlight celery in bold text within the ingredients list, as required by food safety regulations. All use-by dates are affected by this recall.
The discount retailer has begun displaying notices at every store selling the burgers to inform customers of the issue.
"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to celery, we advise you not to eat it," Lidl stated.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an Allergy Alert regarding the matter.
Celery allergies can present as pollen food syndrome, which the NHS describes as "a hypersensitivity reaction to fruits, vegetables and nuts (often referred to as plant-based foods) causing mild irritant symptoms such as itching of the mouth, lips and throat when eaten in their raw form."
The health service notes that "severe symptoms such as breathing difficulties are rare."
Customers who have purchased the affected burgers and suffer from a celery allergy should avoid consuming them. The product can be returned to any Lidl GB store for a complete refund.

This recall follows closely on the heels of another Lidl product withdrawal announced just days earlier.
The supermarket chain pulled its Snaktastic Multigrain Bites Sour Cream & Black Pepper from shelves after discovering potential foil contamination within the packets.

The foreign material presents a choking hazard, rendering the snacks unsafe for consumption.
Affected multipacks weigh 150g and contain six individual 25g bags, bearing batch code 207 345 and a best-before date of April 4.
Lidl has urged customers who purchased these crisps to refrain from eating them entirely. Shoppers may return the product to their nearest branch for a full refund.
Tesco has simultaneously launched its own urgent recall concerning Special Fried Rice products.
The supermarket discovered that 350g packs contain wheat that has not been declared on the packaging.
All items bearing a use-by date of February 2 are affected.
