Urging skin care enthusiasts not to miss out on a remarkably easy yet crucial step, the beauty guru declared that consistency is key - skip the step "under no circumstances".
"Always wash your hands before cleansing your face, whether that be before you go to bed or when you wake up in the morning," Romy instructed.
"When I wake up in the morning, I wash my hands even though I was sleeping all night. I do not put my hands on my face to cleanse."

Cleaning your face with dirty hands "doesn't make any sense", the LA-based creator said.
A similar sentiment has been echoed by the skin care gurus at L'Oreal, who urged individuals to "thoroughly wash [their] hands before sudsing up with your daily facial cleanser".
