Grey blending is a flattering way to deal with grey hair

"Flat, one-dimensional colour, especially darker shades, can absorb light and make your overall look dull. Natural hair colour has variation within it. It catches the light differently in different areas."
Dying techniques such as highlights and balayage create a more natural, lived-in look, which in turn, appears more youthful. This type of colouring can be the most flattering for grey hair, too, as the expert said you don't need to cover every sign of greys.
Bynum said: "Let's talk about grey blending over full grey coverage. For years, the default approach has been covering the greys fully.
"This approach leads to harsh regrowth lines and a significant commitment to maintenance. More and more, I am guiding my clients towards grey blending instead.
HOW TO LOOK YOUNGER
"This allows the greys to naturally exist within highlights or lowlights to result in a more dimensional and easier to maintain style."
Choosing a colour that blends well with your natural locks appears more up-to-date and can really brighten your face.
Bynum said: "One of the most refreshed a client looks is when you add brightness around the face. This doesn't mean chunky highlights, it means subtle, blended lightness that frames the face. This also brightens the eyes, softens the skin and brings attention to the right areas of the face.
"In my experience, what ages someone is a client who holds onto a haircut or colour that worked for them in the past. For example, a flat lifeless colour, chunky highlights from another era or hair that looks 'done' instead of lived-in.

"When a client sits in my chair, my goal is to never make her look like someone else, but the best and most current version of herself today. Softer, brighter and more effortless.
"Because at the end of the day, the most flattering hair isn't about age, it's about balance, light and how it makes you feel when you walk out the door."
