Canadian fast food chain MB Chicken to open its first UK store within days with more plans to expand

The first branch will open in Lisburn Leisure Park in Northern Ireland. This will create 25 jobs.

It will be the first in the country and there are already plans to open more branches in Belfast and across NI.

MB Chicken chief executive Hadi Chahin said: "For over 54 years Canadians have made Mary Brown’s Chicken their first choice for fresh, hand-cut, hand-breaded delicious fried chicken and Taters.

"We are therefore excited to introduce our legendary fried chicken to the wonderful people of Lisburn."

The full UK menu is not yet confirmed, but the chain is known for its fried chicken.

Menu items in Canadian branches include chicken pieces, breaded in its signature recipe, chicken sandwiches and strawberry cream cheese pies for dessert.

This is not the first international chicken chain that has made its way to the UK.

The US fast food shop Popeyes has shared plans to open 30 new British locations.

The chain - which has more than 4,000 branches worldwide - will see the number of stores in the UK nearly double.

Britons in Scotland, Wales and England can visit the new locations.
