The 'zesty' treat brings 'indulgence' to on-the-go snacking

In some exciting news for sweet-toothed shoppers, McVitie's is set to launch Club Layers Orange, a chocolate-coated wafer bar that reimagines the classic Club biscuit.

The treat will be exclusively available at Spar stores from June 30 before expanding to other retailers.

The "zesty" new bar (with a recommended retail price of 79p) features a thick milk chocolate coating with orange-flavoured cream filling and multiple crisp wafer layers.

Following its Spar debut, Club Layers Orange will reach Sainsbury's on August 11 and Asda Express on September 1, with wider availability in supermarkets and convenience stores from July 21.

The confectionery-style bar has been designed for on-the-go snacking, during lunch breaks, afternoon treats, or "whenever a little indulgence is in order".

McVitie's describes the product as delivering "all the chunky satisfaction of the classic Club biscuit" whilst offering consumers a different way to enjoy the familiar brand.

The wafer bar format maintains the indulgent qualities associated with Club products whilst adapting to modern snacking preferences.

Marketing Manager for McVitie's Club, Catherine Morgenroth, commented on the launch, highlighting the new direction of the "iconic" Club.

She said: "McVitie's Club Layers Orange marks an exciting step for Club, as it enters the confectionery aisle for the first time.

"With Club having long been a favourite snack in many households, our new wafer bar offers a fresh way to enjoy the beloved classic and is perfect for those busy moments when you need a quick, tasty pick-me-up."

The biscuit manufacturer has also introduced limited-edition Pink Digestives featuring a raspberry and cream flavour coating, currently available exclusively at Sainsbury's stores.

The treats consist of McVitie's signature golden-baked biscuit base topped with a smooth raspberry and cream-flavoured coating.

Each pack contains 15 biscuits with a recommended retail price of £2.35, though they are currently being sold at a promotional price of £1.85.

A nationwide rollout is scheduled for July 21, when the Pink Digestives will reach other UK retailers.

McVitie's has positioned these limited-edition biscuits as perfect for summer sporting events, social gatherings, and outdoor picnics.

Both product launches reflect McVitie's broader innovation approach, transforming established favourites into contemporary formats and flavours suited to the summer season.

The Club Layers Orange represents a significant shift for the traditionally biscuit-focused brand, moving into confectionery territory with a wafer bar format.

Meanwhile, the Pink Digestives demonstrate the company's willingness to experiment with bold new coatings on its century-old classic.

The raspberry and cream flavour offers a fruity alternative to traditional chocolate varieties.

These releases showcase McVitie's strategy of maintaining brand heritage while adapting to evolving consumer preferences for variety and seasonal offerings.

A second iconic treat brand, Cadbury, recently rolled out "indulgent" new limited-edition chocolate bars that promise a colour-changing twist.

When it comes to storing chocolate, the nation is certainly divided. While some pop their bars straight into the fridge, others consider this total sacrilege.

Cadbury has made the choice a little more interesting this year with its limited-edition Dairy Milk Summer Edition chocolate bars, which feature innovative cold-activated packaging that transforms when refrigerated.
