The Food Standards Agency sounded the alarm following concerns that the item could be a choking hazard

Aldi customers are being urgently warned not to consume a chicken product that may contain pieces of plastic, as BM Foods Ltd has issued an immediate recall of Chicken Cooked Meat Trimmings.

The stark warning has come after discovering the products were found to have been affected by potential plastic contamination that could pose a choking hazard.


The Food Standards Agency has released a recall notice advising: "If you have bought any of the above products, do not consume them."

The contaminated items are being removed from all Aldi stores across the country, with point-of-sale notices alerting shoppers to the safety risk. The recall affects products currently on sale at the discount supermarket chain.

The affected product is the 400g pack of Chicken Cooked Meat Trimmings, bearing batch code 50328453 with an expiry date of July 4 2025.

According to the Food Standards Agency, "The possible presence of pieces of plastic in the products which presents a choking hazard and makes them unsafe to eat". The plastic fragments could cause injury if consumed.

Customers who have purchased this specific batch should check their fridges immediately. The product was distributed to Aldi stores nationwide before the contamination was discovered.
