The range aims to make it easier to make healthy choices on the go

Boots has unveiled a brand-new healthy meal deal range designed with those trying to lose weight and weight loss medication users in mind.

The "Boost by Boots" collection features 15 different products, spanning sandwiches, salads and sushi options that can all be grabbed as part of the retailer's popular meal deal.

The entire range has been put together with help from Boots' in-house nutrition experts, focusing on protein and fibre-rich choices. This combination will help keep hunger at bay for hours.

Options include a Buffalo Chicken sandwich (22g protein), Butter Chicken wrap (20g protein), a Green Goddess Chicken Salad (17g protein, 7g fibre), Hot Korean-inspired Chicken Flatbread (19g protein, 6g fibre) and Bang Bang Chicken Salad (18g protein, 6g fibre).

Vegetarians can enjoy an Egg Shakshuka Rainbow Salad (13g protein, 9g fibre) and a Halloumi & Falafel wrap (24g protein), among other choices. Or, pick up a Feta & Beetroot Houmous Salad (15g protein, 11g fibre), Sweet Chilli Prawn Drago Rolls (8g protein) and Sweet Chilli Prawn Dragon Rolls (8g protein).

Research from Boots Online Doctor, which surveyed 1,000 current and recent GLP-1 users, found that seven in 10 are picking up food on the go at least two to three times weekly.

When it comes to what they're after, nearly half prioritise high-protein options, while 38 per cent look for lower-calorie choices. But more than half stated they struggle to know what to eat when they're out and about.

Almost three-quarters said they wish it were easier to tell what is actually healthy. And a whopping 86 per cent said they'd be more likely to buy grab-and-go food if it was clearly designed to keep them fuller for longer.

Boots nutritionist Vicky Pennington said: "The Boost range adds to our growing range of healthy meal deal products at Boots. All products are a source of or high in protein or fibre, making them a great option for the growing number of GLP-1 users, including our Boots Online Doctor weight loss patients.

"All our own-brand meal deal products are developed within a nutritional framework that limits calories, fat, sugar, and salt content in line with government and industry targets."

Always incorporate protein and fibre into your meals

“Prioritise lean meat, fish or plant-based options. Higher protein intake helps to stave off hunger signals while you're dieting and helps to reduce muscle loss, so achieving the ideal protein intake for fat loss makes losing weight more sustainable.

“Fibre-rich food can also help you feel less hungry between meals, research has found. This can make it easier to eat smaller portions and avoid snacking.”

Cut down on food high in saturated fat, sugar and salt

Try to eat foods that contain unsaturated fats such as vegetable oils and spreads, oily fish and avocados rather than saturated fats such as fatty cuts of meat, butter, cream and pies. You should also cut down on sugary food and drinks and aim to eat no more than 6g of salt per day.”

Eat regular meals

“Eating at regular times throughout the day supports your energy levels and may help you resist any temptations to snack. Aim to get into a consistent routine and definitely don’t skip out on breakfast – it’s a time to fill up on essential nutrients that can set you up well for the day.”

Stay hydrated

“A balanced diet isn’t just about food, it’s about what you drink as well. Sometimes hunger is confused with thirst, and your body simply needs a glass of water rather than a snack. Aim to drink six to eight glasses of fluid a day, including water and sugar-free drinks such as tea or coffee if desired. Infusing your water with lemon or mint can help if the taste of plain water isn’t for you.”
