In a recent video, the foodie outlined the main methods she would avoid to lose weight, the first of which is adopting a diet low in carbohydrates, without prioritising protein and fibre.

“Low-carb alone is not the answer,” she instructed, adding: ”What is, is protein and fibre.”

“Protein helps preserve muscle mass which is key for keeping your metabolism running. Fibre keeps us full, balances our gut health and balances blood sugar,” she explained, raving about the abundance of benefits from the food groups.

“I don’t even count calories. I built my meals around protein and fibre and the carbs naturally fall into place,” she author shared.

To help weight loss, the NHS has recommended between 0.75g and 1g of protein per kilogram of body weight every day.

Just like fibre, protein can assist with keeping the body feeling fuller for longer, which subsequently can help individuals with losing weight.

Meanwhile, the health service has advised consuming around 30g of fibre each day to contribute towards a healthy balanced diet.

The best sources of protein derive from fruits, vegetables and whole grains, as well as nuts, seeds and legumes.

However, before making any major lifestyle change, it is best to consult your doctor or an equivalent medical professional to ensure that you decide on the best weight loss method for you and your body.
