A fat loss coach has shared how she maintained her results for several years following her second attempt

Shedding excess weight presents a gruelling challenge for many, yet maintaining hard-won results proves equally demanding.

Having successfully dropped 40lb on two separate occasions, TikTok fitness adviser Audrey Adams has been sharing her personal journey with followers.

"I've lost 40lb twice, the first go round, I ended up gaining the weight back pretty quickly because I made some big mistakes," she explained in a recent video.

The self-described fat loss coach noted that she has maintained her results for several years following her second attempt.

Audrey hopes that revealing her errors might help others avoid similar pitfalls on their own fitness journeys.

In a recent clip, she revealed her initial error involved mimicking dietary approaches that had proven successful for others.

"The first mistake I made was copying somebody else's diet because it worked well for them, whether that was 1200, extremely low carb or following a specific meal plan," Audrey stated.

She found such restrictive regimes impossible to sustain beyond approximately four weeks, particularly once her initial enthusiasm waned and everyday demands took precedence.

"Also, sometimes it wouldn't even work because it wasn't designed for my body and my nutritional needs," she added.

Ultimately, Audrey discovered that personalised nutrition plans yield better outcomes compared to generic approaches borrowed from others.

"The second mistake I made was thinking that more time spent in the gym meant I would get better results, but I actually have a more defined and fit physique when training three days a week than when I was training six days a week," she revealed.

She admitted failing to monitor her advancement properly, constantly altering her exercise routines, and neglecting to lift sufficiently heavy weights.

"I also wasn't giving my body enough rest to actually recover, and that, along with a couple of other things, contributed to my tanking hormones," she explained.

The third error she identified, and perhaps the most damaging of all, was a fundamental mindset problem.

"I kept acting like somebody who's trying to lose the weight, instead of somebody who stays in shape," she said.

Rather than embracing the habits of a genuinely fit individual, she remained perpetually in dieting mode.

"I wasn't living like a fit person. I was essentially just always dieting; it's almost like I was treating my weight loss or fitness journey like it had an expiration date," Audrey reflected.

"But people who stay in shape know that there isn't really a finish line."
