Popular vehicles seen across the UK are part of a large recall notice, with more than 44,000 cars potentially at risk of catching fire.
Stellantis has announced a recall of more than 700,000 cars worldwide amid fears that a particulate filter pipe could cause issues.
The issue impacts vehicles from Stellantis manufacturers, including Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Vauxhall, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Fiat produced between 2023 and 2026.
Stellantis has warned that there may be a lack of clearance between the gasoline particulate filter pipe and the protection cup of the 48-volt belt starter generator.
The Dutch-based automaker said there could be contact between the two components in "wet conditions", which can cause water to enter the engine bay.
Stellantis warned that in a "worst-case scenario", the issue could lead to a "potential risk of fire in the engine department".
It announced that it was conducting a voluntary recall of around 44,000 vehicles in the UK, noting that "safety and security" was at the core of its value as a brand.
The brand added that it would immediately begin reaching out to customers who may be impacted by the recall notice.

| STELLANTISAs part of the recall process, motorists are being asked to contact their dealers to schedule an appointment to remedy the issue.
If work on the vehicle is necessary, the service will take around 30 minutes. As with other remedies for recalls, it will be completed free of charge.
In a statement, Stellantis said: "The corrective action involves replacing the pole protection cup of the 48V belt starter generator (BSG) to one with higher insulation.
"Additionally, the clearance between the gasoline particulate filter pipe and the BSG will be checked and adjusted if necessary."
