Further details about the Ferrari Luce will be unveiled in May later this year

Ferrari has unveiled the second phase of its electric vehicle rollout, with drivers getting a glimpse of the interior and technology of the upcoming Luce model.

The luxury sportscar manufacturer provided details of the Luce model at an event in San Francisco ahead of its exterior reveal in May later this year.

Ferrari said "Luce" was a new philosophy for the brand as it embarks on its electric era with a unique design style and interface components.

Luce - which means "light" or "illumination" in Italian - represents the automaker's "unwavering focus on the future".

The new Luce electric car was a collaboration between Ferrari and LoveFrom, the creation of legendary designers Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson.

The LoveFrom collective has worked alongside Ferrari for five years, providing an instrumental role in designing "every dimension" of the Luce.

Ferrari said the trust put on LoveFrom was a "deliberate expression of the marque's vision for the future", with a focus on "challenging conventions".

LoveFrom worked alongside Flavio Manzoni, head of Ferrari Styling Centre, focused on meeting functional targets and packaging constraints involved in producing a sportscar.

The cabin is designed to make drivers feel "calm, focused and spacious", with the hardware and software developed together.

Ferrari took inspiration from the Veglia and Jaeger instrument clusters from the 1950s and 1960s. Designers particularly focused on achieving a "watch-like" clarity

It added: "This approach is rooted in the concept of reducing cognitive load for the driver.

"By referencing the simplicity of analogue watch dials, where time can be read at a glance, the designers aimed to make the car's controls and displays equally intuitive.

"The graphics are purposefully minimal and clear, allowing drivers to glean essential information quickly and effortlessly while keeping their attention on the road."

One of the minds behind the project, Sir Jony Ive, has been described as one of the world's top designers and recently joined ChatGPT creator OpenAI to "reimagine" computers.

He is best known for his work with Apple, being a key designer behind the iPod, iPhone, iMac and Apple Watch, with the 58-year-old now turning his attention to cars.

Ferrari confirmed that it would unveil the third and final phase of its electric car rebrand in May 2026 at an event in Italy.
