The DVLA has unveiled new licence plate changes from today, by releasing 150,000 new fixed-price prefix personalised registration numbers.
The licence numbers have never been assigned to a vehicle or been offered for sale before marking a first-time move by the DVLA.
The plates will be available to view from today with chances to purchase from 10am on Tuesday, October 1, with drivers urged to act soon.
The new plates feature letters ranging from A to H, followed by 25 or 26, a space and then three more letters,A25 CAR for example.

The fixed prices start from £250 with other examples including A25 CYA, B25 TOM, C26 DAN, D25 OMG, E26 CAT, F25 CBR, F26 ORD, G25 GEM and H25 NRY.
Jody Davies, Head of DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: “Whether it’s your name, hobby, occupation or you’re a motoring enthusiast, why not give your vehicle that finishing touch by purchasing a personalised registration?
“This exciting upcoming release is a great opportunity to get your perfect registration in the hugely desirable prefix style for a fixed price. The vast majority of the 150,000 new numbers are priced at £250 each.”
The plates on offer come shortly after the new “74” licence plates were released at the beginning of the month.
Drivers were able to purchase vehicles with the latest “74” registration plate identifier from September 1 with millions of motorists looking to upgrade their plates.
This was the second time that the plates had changed and followed the release of the “24” signifier in March.
Number plates in the UK must meet certain requirements to be installed on vehicles with one criterion being that they are made from a reflective material with the front plate displayed in black characters on a white background and black characters on a yellow plate on the rear.
The personalised registrations website run by the DVLA allows motorists to see how their new registration will look on their vehicle.
More than 65 million registrations are available to purchase at a fixed price on the website with a range of combinations on offer.
Other requirements for UK plates include ensuring they are marked with a British Standard number - "BS AU 145e” - for plates fitted after September 1, 2021.
Notably, drivers are able to customise their number plate without changing the registration. This can be done by having 3D-raised characters or displaying symbols or identifiers.
Other legal modifications include putting a flag on the car such as the Union Jack, Cross of St George, Cross of St Andrew and the Red Dragon of Wales.
