Drivers have been slapped with thousands of penalties along major motorways in the UK, prompting concerns about road safety.
New data shows drivers were handed speeding fines along the M4, M1, and M6, which were found to be leading the way for road offences.
In December 2024, more than 6,000 drivers were caught speeding on the M4 alone, making it the UK's most fined motorway for the month.
Data equated this to be roughly one ticket handed to drivers every seven minutes, according to a Freedom of Information request obtained by Rev Monkey UK.

Other popular routes also issued large numbers of fines:
M1 motorway - 5,692 tickets
M6 motorway - 3,816 tickets
M25 motorway - 2,175 tickets
M20 motorway - 2,073 tickets
Overall, more than 25,000 motorway speeding tickets were issued across the country in December, although not all police forces responded to the request, meaning the actual total is likely even higher.

"With Easter and the school holidays approaching, drivers should be especially mindful of speed limits."

He added: "Motorways are some of the busiest roads in the country, and drivers need to be especially aware of changing speed limits, average speed cameras, and smart motorway zones."
Rev Monkey UK has now urged motorists to take extra care, particularly during holiday periods when traffic is heavier.

Mr Reece said: "Following speed limits is not just about avoiding a fine – it is about safety.
