One of the UK's most popular manufacturers has unveiled new technology that could revolutionise hybrid vehicles with impressive range and rapid charging speeds.
Lotus has confirmed its new X Hybrid technology, which will deliver a staggering 1,200km (745 miles), 350km (217 miles) of which will be all-electric.
The X Hybrid platform will make its debut in Europe in the new Eletre X, which Lotus hopes will "set a new benchmark for electric-first performance mobility.

Known as the Lotus FOR ME in China, the British manufacturer has confirmed that it will publish European specifications for the Eletre X in the coming weeks and months.
The official launch will come in June 2026, while deliveries will begin in the last three months of the year. UK deliveries will take place slightly later.
Lotus explained that the X Hybrid was a blend of electric performance, hybrid versatility and engineering excellence.
It added that the "X" was emblematic of its "breakthrough innovation and the next chapter for the brand".

The Lotus Eletre X has a 0-100km/h time of just 3.3 seconds, and its 900V architecture allows it to charge from 20 to 80 per cent in just nine minutes.
The vehicle is also complemented by four levels of regenerative braking, allowing motorists to recoup energy when driving.
Commenting on the launch, Qingfeng Feng, CEO of Lotus Tech, said the car provides "effortless performance" without needing to worry about range.
He said: "With FOR ME, we are proving that advanced technology must serve the drivers, not replace them.

"Delivering constant performance, total control, and real safety in every condition, so that consumers can enjoy the emotion of driving and the confidence of protecting what matters most."
Mr Feng highlighted the famous Pirelli tyres campaign, which stated that "power is nothing without control".
Lotus added that the new X Hybrid is based on four core pillars, notably the combination of technology, power, excharging and range.
Last year, Lotus revamped its line-up of Eletre and Emeya hypercars to reflect its electrified power output.

The new "600" and "900" model names will clearly reflect the power output versions of both models.
Despite this, it confirmed that it would be bringing back equipment level references, including "GT" and "GT SE".
Lotus said: "Although much has changed and has been improved for the new model year, the unrivalled performance of the Lotus Eletre and Emeya has remained untouched, resulting in the two models still being the benchmark in their respective segments.
"As a '600', both feature a 450 kW (612 hp) all-electric dual-motor powertrain and all-wheel drive as standard, a combination that guarantees stunning performance."
