Harry Potter fans eagerly tuned into the first look at the franchise's new HBO series on Wednesday, which was met with a divided reaction.
With excitement growing around the new series, many are also looking to the original trailer from 2001 - the first ever look at the record-breaking films.
While both sneak peeks offer a glimpse into the first story in the series, the two trailers - 25 years apart - offer different focuses of the story.
While the original 2001 trailer very much draws in on a young Harry Potter entering the magical school of Hogwarts, the new HBO preview offers a glimpse at the darker side of the character's life prior to receiving the Hogwarts letter.

The original Warner Brothers film ad opens with the unmistakable voice of Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) as he asks the young wizard: "Have you ever made anything happen? Anything you couldn't explain?" He then delivers his iconic line "you're a wizard, Harry!"
The two-minute long trailer shows Harry's first look at the Hogwarts castle as flying lessons and Quidditch is soon introduced.
All the central characters make an appearance, including Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), Professor Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), Professor Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith), Professor Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) and Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton).
The trailer surprisingly shows a lot of the film, from the start to nearer the end, and features the trio of friends taking on the troll in the iconic scene as well as beginning the chess match which ultimately leads to Harry's first battle with villain Voldemort.

It ends with wand shop owner Garrick Ollivander (John Hurt) telling Harry "I think we can expect great things from you," before text reads: "The magic begins."
Meanwhile, the new HBO trailer begins with Harry's tragic beginnings, with his Aunt Petunia Dursley (Bel Powley) telling Harry (Dominic McLaughlin) "I told you, you are a normal boy. And you're going to start acting like one."
The trailer then shows Harry in his "muggle" school being bullied by a group of boys, including his cousin Dudley Dursley (Amos Kitson) - a feature explored in the first book but not the original films.
Aunt Petunia continues: "You think you're something special - there is nothing special about you."

Harry is then seen sitting on a London Underground service with Hagrid (Nick Frost), where the two are discussing his deceased parents.
The rest of the trailer reflects the original one, with Harry meeting Ron (Alastair Stout) and Hermione (Arabella Stanton) on the train before getting his first glimpse at Hogwarts.
An echo of the 2001 trailer sees the new Mr Ollivander (Anton Lesser) telling the young wizard: "I think we can expect great things from you."
More of the central characters are then introduced as they are in the original advert.
Streaming giant HBO revealed the first footage during a press event in London on Wednesday, offering audiences their initial glimpse of the reimagined Wizarding World.
Warner Bros Discovery's streaming chief, JB Perrette, has described the series as "the biggest streaming event in the history of HBO Max and arguably in streaming, period".
Reaction to the trailer has been mixed, with fans divided over the new adaptation.
While the two are echo each other, they offer slightly different summaries of the first instalment, with the new HBO seemingly offering a more in-depth focus of Harry's full story.
