Timothee Chalamet was notably absent from the trailer launch for his new film, Dune: Part Three, on Tuesday, following weeks of backlash and jibes aimed at him during the Oscars last weekend.
The 30-year-old actor prompted fury in a recent interview, where he claimed that "nobody cares" about ballet and opera.
He became the butt of the joke on several occasions throughout Sunday's Oscars ceremony, with host Conan O'Brien taking the opportunity to poke fun at the Marty Supreme star.
During his opening monologue, he quipped: "Security is extremely tight tonight. I'm just going to mention that. I'm told there's a concern about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities."

It followed a huge reaction on social media, with ballet and opera enthusiasts and companies hitting back at the actor following his now-infamous February interview.
Speaking to Matthew McConaughey for Variety last month, Mr Chalamet had been discussing shifting cinema habits and attention spans when he turned to other artistic disciplines.
"I don't want to be working in ballet or opera or things where it's like 'Hey, keep this thing alive,' even though no one cares about this anymore," he stated.

In response, the Metropolitan Opera posted a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram showcasing the craftsmanship behind their productions, tagging Mr Chalamet with the caption: "This one's for you." The clip garnered more than 11,000 shares.
Two days after the Oscars, which saw Mr Chalamet miss out on the Best Actor category to Sinners star Michael B Jordan, the actor was absent from a Dune event.
While co-stars Zendaya, Anya Taylor-Joy and Robert Pattinson gathered to celebrate the upcoming film, Mr Chalamet instead spoke via a recorded video message.
He stated: "After two impactful films with an in-development process that started in the [mid-2010s], a production process that started in 2018 and over 150 production days across the three films at large, today we are debuting the trailer to Dune: Part Three."

He went on: "This film would not exist without the master of cinema, the great artist that is Denis Villeneuve.
"I'm not alone in saying thank you to Denis for his dedication in bringing the Dune films to life and now the Dune trilogy to life. I hope you enjoy this first sneak peek at Dune: Part Three."
Celebrities were also among the furious swarm of people to have launched into a rant against Mr Chalamet's recent comments.
This included Go Compare advert star Wynne Evans, who chimed in with an Instagram video clip.

Sharing the clip last Monday, the opera singer remarked: "Hello, I wanted to come on and talk about Timothée Chalamet and him saying that opera and ballet aren't relevant anymore.
"I find it odd that a man who is fighting for the future of cinema is actually dissing the two art forms that brought us opera and cinema in the first place."
After expressing further thoughts, he wrapped up the message with direct words to the actor, concluding: "I don't think you can knock something that's survived for 400 years and is still going.
"What we should see is if one of your films is still around in 400 years, and then we'll have a chat."
