The ITV broadcaster faced criticism after joking about Good Morning Britain's treatment of politicians

Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid has sparked fierce criticism, including complaints from other famous faces, such as Dragons' Den star Deborah Meaden.

The broadcaster prompted an intense reaction on X after an ITV advert featuring the presenter was joked about by herself and other Good Morning Britain stars.

The advert in question, placed at a bus stop, was a photo of a smiling Ms Reid, and it read: "Fancy a politician for breakfast? There's no place like ITV."

Ms Reid had commented on an Instagram photo of the ad, seemingly finding the sentiment amusing as she penned: "GRILLED! Love a roasted government minister for breakfast! Fantastic ad campaign @itv @itvnews @gmb." (sic)

Her co-stars also found amusement in the display, with Ranvir Singh commenting: "BRILLIANT," followed by a laughing emoji.

Fellow GMB host Charlotte Hawkins penned: "Love this!" again, alongside a laughing emoji, while Melvin Odoom wrote: "Great look."

When screengrabs of the interactions made it to X, Ms Meaden re-posted a criticism by one user, which read: "From the position they started from, Labour have done an excellent job, lots to do, but an impressive effort.

"Sadly, you won't see it in the media when this is the attitude of 'Journalists.'"

As critics responded by blasting the government, Ms Meaden chimed in on Thursday: "It takes time for policies to work and today we see signs of their effect.

"It will be a bumpy road and there's a long way to go but some good signs."

The successful entrepreneur's public backing of Ms Reid's critics suggests she agrees that the ITV advert and response from the TV journalists are inappropriate.

However, Ms Meaden herself has also faced backlash online in the same week.

In another X interaction, GB News star Adam Brooks had posted to critique the current state of the UK, arguing that people are facing consequences for holding certain opinions.

In response, Ms Meaden asked for examples of such situations, with fans replying with examples of what they deem to be cancel culture.

Regular People's Channel guest Connie Shaw was among those to contribute with a response.

She explained how her "gender critical views" almost led to her expulsion from Leeds University.

She went on to add that she now works for Free Speech Union, which supports people who have been reprimanded for expressing their views.

However, this led Ms Meaden to hit back: "Great work Connie but it underlines the point that it was illegal to be expelled."

Ms Shaw continued to online disagreement, writing back: "I submit that you have significantly moved the goal posts.

"Regardless, the law is pretty meaningless if the police don't follow it."
